CSLAP REPORTS

CSLAP, or, Citizens Statewide Lake Assessment Program answers the question, “How is our lake doing? By gathering data on water temperature, clarity, invasive species, depth profile, nutrients, minerals, and salt, the health of Saratoga Lake, and all lakes, is evaluated by the DEC. Saratoga Lake is known as a Mesotropic Lake, or moderately productive lake. It supports a healthy, diverse population of aquatic plants, animals, and algae. This can be compared to Eutropic lakes which carry high levels of nutrients and have high productivity. These lakes may support an overgrowth of aquatic plants and/or algae. They are typically murky, warm, and have low oxygen levels. Lastly are Oligotrophic lakes which carry low levels of nutrients and have less productivity. These lakes are often clear, cold, and have high oxygen levels.
